Delegates Choose Roland Goertz, M.D., President-elect

The AAFP Congress of Delegates today elected Roland Goertz, M.D., M.B.A., of Waco, Texas, to be the Academy's next president-elect. Others elected or chosen by acclamation for the following positions are

  • Speaker of the Congress -- Leah Raye Mabry, M.D., of San Antonio
  • Vice Speaker -- John Meigs Jr., M.D., of Brent, Ala.
  • Directors -- Reid Blackwelder, M.D., of Kingsport, Tenn.; Conrad Flick, M.D., of Cary, N.C.; and Laura Knobel, M.D., of Walpole, Mass.
  • New physician Board member -- Chris Lupold, M.D., of Lancaster, Pa.
  • Resident Board member -- Robert Stenger, M.D., M.P.H., of Portland, Ore., and
  • Student Board member -- Brooke Sciuto, of Bethesda, Md.
Finalists for the AAFP position on the board of directors of the American Board of Family Medicine, or ABFM, are
  • Alan David, M.D., of Milwaukee;
  • Thomas Hansen, M.D., of Omaha, Neb.; and
  • Thomas Weida, M.D., of Hershey, Pa.
The ABFM will select one finalist next spring to serve a five-year term.
