Kathleen Ann Galbraith, M.D., FAAFP, 50, of Portland, Ind., died June 2. She had been a member of the Academy since 1982.
Galbraith received her medical degree from Indiana University, Indianapolis, in 1982 and completed her residency with the Community Hospitals of Indianapolis program in 1985. She was recognized with the Jane R. Richter Memorial for Senior Medical Resident with Outstanding Teaching Ability in 1985.
Galbraith practiced family medicine in Jay County, Indiana, for more than two decades. She was chief of staff at Jay County Hospital for 14 years and served three terms as a board member at the hospital. She was a co-founder of the Jay County AIDS Task Force and hosted a weekly program for teens on a local radio channel.
Named a Fellow of the AAFP in 1992, Galbraith was a member of the AMA. She also was active in the Indiana State Medical Association, having served as trustee and board chair for the organization, and most recently having been elected its vice speaker.
