Delegates Choose Lori Heim, M.D., President-elect

The AAFP Congress of Delegates today elected Lori Heim, M.D., of Vass, N.C., to be the Academy's next president-elect. Others elected or chosen by acclamation for the following positions are

  • Speaker of the Congress -- Leah Raye Mabry, M.D., R.Ph., of San Antonio, Texas
  • Vice Speaker -- John Meigs Jr., M.D., of Centreville, Ala.
  • Directors -- Jeffrey Cain, M.D., of Denver; Tom Felger, M.D., of Granger, Ind.; and George Shannon, M.D., of Columbus, Ga.
  • New physician Board member -- Jason Dees, D.O., of New Albany, Miss.
  • Resident Board member -- Jennifer Bacani, M.D., of Wichita, Kan.
  • Student Board member -- Amy McIntyre of Cranston, R.I.
Finalists for the AAFP position on the board of directors of the American Board of Family Medicine, or ABFM, are
  • Robert Morrow, M.D., of Bronx, N.Y.;
  • Diane Beebe, M.D., of Brandon, Miss.; and
  • Mary Elizabeth Roth, M.D., of Dallas, Pa.
The ABFM will select one finalist next spring to serve a five-year term.
