Americans recently observed a somber milestone: the fourth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The calamitous events of that day were quickly followed by word of more acts of terrorism, this time using anthrax as a weapon. Family physicians were on the front lines of care during these events, and they remain there now.
With that unfortunate reality in mind, the Academy recently introduced the AAFP Bioterrorism Guide for PDAs (Members only). It is a comprehensive, hyperlinked reference cataloging the principal agents of bioterrorism, as well as signs and symptoms of infection and treatment and containment protocols. Included in the guide is information on recognizing and managing injuries consistent with chemical and radiological exposure.
The guide is designed for use by Palm OS® or Pocket PCs and requires iSiloTM document reader 3.0 or later, although it works best with iSilo 4.0 or later installed. You can download the latest version of iSilo at and install it on your handheld computer to view the guide for just under $20.
