The 2005 Congress of Delegates will act on four proposed amendments to the AAFP Bylaws, as well as resolutions, when the Congress meets Sept. 26 - 28 in San Francisco. A summary of the Bylaws amendments:

Amendment 1 would simplify the process for transfer of membership when a member moves from one chapter to another. The administrative responsibility would shift from constituent chapters to the AAFP.

Amendment 2 would change the timing of the election of the at-large member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. The at-large member would be elected at the last meeting of the outgoing Board of Directors, rather than at the organizational meeting of the new Board.

Amendment 3 would delete outdated language regarding dues for student members. Amendment 4 would delete outdated language regarding the election process for officers.
