Louis Spikol, M.D., of Allentown, Pa., has accepted a part-time position as senior consultant for health information technology at the Academy's Center for Health Information Technology.
The addition of Spikol to the CHiT staff will help the center ratchet up its outreach and consulting services to members. Spikol will also assist CHiT in its efforts to design and implement tools and educational materials to provide technical assistance for physicians in small practices as they adopt electronic health records.
Spikol, a practicing family physician for more than 17 years, successfully implemented an EHR system in his practice. He will continue to live in Allentown and see patients on a part-time basis. Spikol wil begin his AAFP consulting duties on July 1.
