Something Has to Give With Medicaid

To the editor:

I'm writing in response to a story about Medicaid ("Physicians Will Face Dilemma as Result of States' Medicaid Budget Plans"; posted online May 19). We are accusing the government of making us look like the bad guys by (forcing us to request) a $3 co-pay. Isn't that exactly what we are doing to the government? Making it look like the bad guy? Something has to give with Medicaid. The states can't afford it as it is. Co-pays from recipients are completely acceptable and no different from what a lot of other people do at a doctor's office, except the co-pay is five to 13 times more.
