AHRQ Launches Comprehensive Patient Safety Web Site

By News Staff

If you're looking for a comprehensive source of patient safety information, check out the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's new Patient Safety Network, or PSNet.

The site offers a variety of information. Looking for a particular journal article on hospital deaths caused by prescription errors? Need a toolkit that outlines specific safe practices to help you provide better health care? How about a preview of upcoming patient safety conferences and meetings? PSNet covers topics and resources for all stakeholders with an interest in safe and effective patient care, including health clinicians, administrators, policy makers, researchers and consumers.

Users can customize the site by creating "My PSNet" pages to automatically collect journal articles, news and conference notices in a particular topic area. Subscribers also can request delivery of tailored weekly updates. In addition, PSNet features a carefully annotated collection of sentinel patient safety books and journal articles.

"AHRQ PSNet provides a one-stop portal for patient safety resources to help health care professionals improve health care for all Americans," said AHRQ Director Carolyn Clancy, M.D., in an April 12 news release about the site.
