NIA Offers Free Spanish-Language Patient Resources

For non-Spanish-speaking physicians, communicating simple information with Spanish-speaking patients can present a significant challenge. That challenge is magnified when it comes to sharing more complex medical information.

Here's help: The National Institute on Aging offers literally dozens of free Spanish-language brochures and fact sheets for patients online. The brochures cover a wide range of topics, including strokes, arthritis, foot care, alcohol abuse and dependence, HIV/AIDS, surgeries depression, cancer, diabetes, and hypothermia.

Although online ordering limits of 25 and 10 have been placed on brochures and fact sheets, respectively, to help ensure publications are available for all who wish to order them, a bulk order form is provided online for larger orders. All materials may be photocopied and freely distributed to patients.
