All AAFP members can take a hand in shaping policy for the Academy. Here's how.
First, plan to attend sessions of the Academy's highest policy-making body, the Congress of Delegates, Sept. 26 - 28 in San Francisco. The meeting will be held in conjunction with the AAFP Scientific Assembly Sept. 28 - Oct. 2. During the Congress' reference committee hearings, speak up on topics important to you and your patients.
Second, preview resolutions the Congress will consider online (use your AAFP ID number to log in); the resolutions are being posted as they're submitted. You might want to share your views on the resolutions with your Academy chapter delegates to the Congress. Topics of some resolutions already online: coding and reimbursement, policies on discrimination, and maintenance of certification.
Third, read the views of candidates for AAFP offices and the Board of Directors. You can ask questions of the candidates via the "Question/Answer Forums" and view their responses online at the site.
