Physicians itching to learn more about bacterial skin infections, melanoma, cutaneous viral infections and diabetic skin manifestations will have their chance from June 12-17, when the AAFP hosts its Skin Problems and Diseases course in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The course will include workshops that focus on case discussions of common and difficult skin disorders and optional hands-on procedures. There is an additional registration fee for the optional sessions.

The course is designed to teach participants to
  • identify common skin disorders present in all stages of life,
  • develop a treatment strategy for most common skin diseases, and
  • apply an evidence-based approach for diagnostic and treatment techniques appropriate to a patient’s skin disorder.
Participants also will have the opportunity to submit up to three of their most puzzling or difficult dermatology cases, with accompanying images, for discussion during the course. Throughout the week, course faculty will display the best dermatological photographs and provide answers to clinical questions. The participant with the best case and image will get $100 off any AAFP CME course or self-study package. More details will be provided in the registration acknowledgement letter.

The course syllabus and handouts may be received in two formats: hard copy or CD-ROM. Registrants may elect to receive both formats for an additional fee, but those receiving the CD-ROM format are advised to bring their own laptop computer. Optional session handouts are not available on CD-ROM.

The course is acceptable for up to 37 Prescribed CME credits. Discounted registration is available until May 16, and registration may be done online or by calling (800) 926-6890.
