Don't Miss AAFP's Geriatric Medicine Course

By News Staff

Make sure your practice stays current with the latest geriatric care by attending the course, Geriatric Medicine for the Family Physician, Oct. 11-15 in Salt Lake City.

Professional Development
This course covers issues and diseases that may affect an aging population, such as common infections, pharmacology and ethical issues, diabetes, depression, and more. Course participation may help physicians planning to take the American Board of Family Medicine exam to earn a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatric Medicine and those planning to sit for the geriatric module of the ABFM recertification exam.

After taking this course, physicians should be able to
  • provide improved primary care to elderly patients;
  • become an information resource for primary care geriatric medicine;
  • identify and discuss geriatric medical and psychiatric health issues; and
  • analyze key geriatric syndromes and their differential diagnoses, evaluation and management.
Sessions on "Pain Management" and "Cognitive and Behavioral Disorders in the Elderly" will include discussions by a panel of experts.

Register online before September 13 for discounted rates.
