Family physicians interested in improving their knowledge of common musculoskeletal complaints may want to participate in the AAFP course Essentials of Musculoskeletal Care, Aug. 17-19 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

After completing the course, participants should know the important history questions to ask when evaluating patients who have problems with the shoulder, neck, elbow, wrist, hand, back, knee, foot and ankle. They also should be able to perform essential exams that effectively diagnose problems with these body parts.

Many lectures will include hands-on components.

Topics for optional sessions include joint injection, fracture management, manipulative medicine and foot care. Separate registration and a fee are required for these optional sessions.

The course has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 16.75 Prescribed CME credits. Early-bird registration is available through July 18.
