By News Staff

Are you or your faculty interested in authoring a manuscript for AAFP FP Essentials? Proposals are being accepted now through Nov. 15 by the Academy's Division of Continuing Medical Education.
Professional Development
FP Essentials is a subscription-only CME and board review product with approximately 5,000 subscribers. Each month, subscribers receive a monograph on a particular clinical topic. The topics follow a multi-year curriculum that covers most major aspects of clinical family medicine.

If you or your faculty would like to author a manuscript for FP Essentials, review the content guidelines and author instructions available online, and then develop and submit a one- to two-page proposal. The proposal should contain:
  • letter stating your interest and specific topic;
  • an outline of the proposed monograph content;
  • your curriculum vitae; and
  • recent writing samples, preferably related to the selected topic.
Prospective authors must first complete an online disclosure form and then submit the proposal via e-mail to Mary Weigand. An FP Essentials medical editor will review all proposals, select one or more for further consideration and contact prospective faculty before making a final selection. Those selected will collaborate with the medical editor to produce drafts and final manuscripts.

An honorarium of $4,000 is issued for accepted manuscripts that meet the requirements.
