New Online CME Offering
AAFP's LearningLink Adds Series on Thromboprophylaxis in Atrial Fibrillation
By News Staff
- "Current Issues and Challenges" reviews risk stratification and pharmacologic options.
- "A Case-Based Approach to Management" features patient cases that focus on deciding between anticoagulant and antiplatelet agents, balancing bleeding risk against stroke risk, and the therapeutic role of newer anticoagulant agents.
"A Case-Based Approach to Management" features Neil Skolnik, M.D., of Jenkintown, Pa., who is a professor of family and community medicine at Temple University School of Medicine and an associate director of the family medicine residency program at Abington Memorial Hospital, and Matthew Sorrentino, M.D., a professor of medicine in the cardiology section at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.
Each activity has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to one AAFP Prescribed credit. In addition, both activities conform to the Academy's criteria for evidence-based CME clinical content.
The program is supported by an independent educational grant from Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc.
LearningLink debuted in 2008. In addition to the thromboprophylaxis in atrial fibrillation series, it also offers an eight-part series on pain management, a four-part series on diabetes, an activity about diagnosing and treating depression, and a four-part series on acute coronary syndrome.
