Fact Sheet Can Help Answer Patients' Part D Questions

By News Staff

Still getting questions from patients about Medicare Part D prescription drug plans? CMS has published a fact sheet that describes which drugs are covered under the program and what patients can do when their Part D plans will not pay for a prescription.

The fact sheet, "What Drugs do Medicare Plans Cover?" (PDF file: 4 pages / 296 KB. More about PDFs.) discusses generic drugs, quantity limits, step therapy, preauthorizations and appeals of coverage denials. Physicians can download and print copies of the fact sheet for patients who have questions about the reasons for changing a prescription, such as to match Part D formularies or to comply with step therapy or other requirements.
