To ensure that members have the most current and accurate information on programs that could add significant revenue to their practices, the Academy is inviting all members to join AAFP President Glen Stream, M.D., M.B.I., of Spokane, Wash., on a conference call on Jan. 25 at 7 p.m., EST.

The call will be hosted by the AAFP, CMS, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and the American College of Physicians (ACP). The call-in number is (800) 837-1935; the operator will ask for the conference identification number, which is 45474183.

Stream will be joined on the call by representatives from the AOA and ACP, as well as CMS staff members Mai Pham, M.D., and Maria Alexander, both of whom are intricately involved with shaping the programs.

For background reading in advance of the call, take advantage of new resources posted by CMS:
  • Shared Savings Program Application -- Scroll to the "Application cycle: Key Dates" chart at the bottom of the page for important information about program deadlines.
  • Slide presentation (22-page PDF; About PDFs) -- This resource explains the Advance Payment Model application process. Information includes an overview of the program, instructions on how to fill out the worksheet addendum, and a question and answer section.
An AAFP summary (19-page PDF; About PDFs) of the ACO final rule also is available. Note that the document was written before CMS announced final details about the advanced payment model option.
