The Transitioning Into Practice panel presentation features three new physicians who recently moved from residency to a variety of practice, administrative and educational roles. The physicians share their insights about the transition and answer questions from residents and students.
The presentation, which was originally an hour and a half long, has been divided into five segments, with the first segment available today. The four subsequent segments will be available online on Aug. 18, 21, 23 and 25.
The audio coverage of the resident-student conference will conclude with two more files on the days noted:
- "Interview With Resident Kelly McMullen, M.D." -- McMullen was one of the first winners in the annual poster contest sponsored by Tar Wars, the tobacco-free education program that now is an Academy initiative. McMullen talks about that contest, her choice of family medicine and how the contest influenced the way she cares for patients (available Aug. 28).
- "Why Did You Choose Family Medicine?" -- in 60 seconds or less, residents attending the resident-student conference tell AAFP News Now why they were inspired to go into family medicine (available Aug. 30).
