With everything else you'll have coming at you in the New Year -- new physician fee schedule, new childhood/adolescent immunization recommendations, and more -- why add another item to the list of things to remember to check on? Take care of your 2007 Academy dues in 2006 by paying them online.

Invoices were mailed to members in October, but you can always check your dues payment status online by visiting AAFP's "Members" page and logging into "My Academy." Once you've logged in, you can check your dues amount using the "Check My Dues" link in the left-hand column and make payment in full or sign up for installment payments.

If you select the full payment option, you'll be able to pay both national and chapter dues using your Discover, American Express, Visa or MasterCard. Unless you're a resident or student, you also will be asked if you want to make a voluntary $35 donation to the AAFP Foundation. After you've made your payment via a secure server, you can print a receipt for your records. It's important to print the receipt page when it appears, because it is no longer accessible after you've proceeded past it in the online system.

The installment option is available for members whose annual dues total more than $100. In this option, the computer calculates the number of months between the current date and the following June and charges your credit card a set amount on the 10th of each month. An e-mail confirmation of payment is sent each month.

Online payments are accepted 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and are processed within two business days. Dues also may be paid by check or credit card using the printed invoice and return envelope mailed to members. Mailed remittances should be addressed to 11400 Tomahawk Creek Parkway, Leawood, KS 66211-2672.
