After a mid-term election cycle that saw 75 of the 87 FamMedPAC-supported candidates elected to Congress, the Academy's federal political action committee will dive into 2007 with a renewed focus on boosting member participation to further enhance the AAFP's presence on Capitol Hill.

"We're going to focus on growing member participation, because (the 2008 elections) will be an important election cycle," said FamMedPAC director Mark Cribben, J.D. "We want members to get more involved, and donations will help us build our visibility beyond what we already enjoy."
FamMedPAC will continue "Club George" -- a popular option among members -- said Cribben. Club George members donate at least $365 a year -- a dollar a day -- to FamMedPAC. In addition, "We plan to work more closely with chapters to grow our Chapter Champions program," said Cribben.
The new year will begin with a new look for donor pins, which will be available in January, according to Cribben.
"The new pins designate the difference between the first election cycle we participated in and the second election cycle, which ends in 2008," said Cribben. "These pins really stand out more because of the color in them."
Donors who give $100 to $499 will receive a silver pin engraved with the U.S. Capitol; those donating $500 to $999 will receive a red pin engraved with the Lincoln Memorial; those who donate $1,000 to $2,499 will receive a silver and blue pin engraved with the Jefferson Memorial; and those who donate between $2,500 and $5,000 will receive a gold and blue pin engraved with the Washington Monument.
