Prospective Assembly Paper, Poster Presenters Get Extended Deadline

By News Staff

The deadline to submit proposals for research papers or posters to be presented at the AAFP Scientific Assembly, to be held Oct. 3-6 in Chicago, has been pushed back to April 13.

Individuals interested in submitting research paper or poster proposals do not need to be Academy members, but their presentations should hold value and relevance for family medicine; contain no promotional, commercial or ethical conflicts of interest; and meet the requirements of the applicant's internal institutional review board.

Posters will be displayed in the Exposition Hall of the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 4-6. Papers will be presented in the convention center from 1 to 4:15 p.m. Oct. 5 and from 8 to 11:15 a.m. Oct. 6.

Both papers and posters are divided into two categories: research and education. Awards or cash prizes will be awarded for as many as seven papers and six posters. To encourage resident and student participation, as many as 15 travel grants of $1,000 are available for resident and student poster presenters.

Registration for the 2007 AAFP Scientific Assembly is available online.
