AAFP member Harold Williamson Jr., M.D., has been named interim vice chancellor for health sciences at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He will begin his new duties Sept. 8 and will serve while a national search is conducted for a permanent vice chancellor. Williamson currently is professor and Jack and Winifred Colwill Endowed Chair of Family and Community Medicine at the university.
One of Williamson's chief tasks will be to oversee a new consolidated health sciences center that integrates the university's medical education, research and clinical missions. The center, set to begin operations on Sept. 8, will be composed of University of Missouri Health Care, the School of Medicine and University Physicians, the Sinclair School of Nursing and the School of Health Professions.
