AAFP President Ted Epperly, M.D., of Boise, Idaho, is one of the final nominees for Modern Healthcare's 100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare competition. The magazine received more than 25,700 nominations from April 6 through May 8; the final ballot includes 300 candidates based on those nominations.
Votes for candidates may be cast through June 26 at the Modern Healthcare Web site. The final ranking will be published in the Aug. 24 issue of Modern Healthcare.
AAFP member David Hannan, M.D., M.P.A., of Marion, N.Y., recently was elected president of the Medical Society of the State of New York. During his term as president, Hannan will oversee all of the medical society's public health and legislative activities.
Hannan currently is chair of the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital's Department of Family Practice and has a private practice in Marion. He has been the Wayne County coroner since 1992.
In addition to serving in various positions in the state medical society, Hannan has served as a governor-appointed representative on the New York State Rural Health Council. He also has served on the AMA's Council on Legislation since 2002.
