There's still time to sign up for the AAFP 2009 Residency Program Solutions Conference for Faculty and Staff of Family Medicine Residency Programs scheduled for March 29-31 in Kansas City, Mo. (Editor's Note: Registration for the 2009 conference has closed.)

Participants can choose from among 45 workshops designed to help programs achieve excellence, integrate core competencies into their curricula, develop program staff and get to know their incoming residents.

Open forums offered during the conference will feature a status report on the Preparing the Personal Physician for Practice project involving 14 residencies, as well as lessons learned from the national demonstration project conducted by TransforMED, the Academy's practice redesign subsidiary.

Academy members with an interest in rural medicine around the globe may wish to attend the 2009 World Organization of Family Doctors, or WONCA, Rural Health World Conference, which is scheduled for June 12-14 in Heraklion, Crete, Greece.

The overall theme for this year's conference is health inequalities. Sessions are categorized into one of three main focus areas: technology suitable for rural settings, island medicine and health services for immigrants.

Registrations will be accepted online, or the registration form can be downloaded, completed and submitted by fax, mail or e-mail. The deadline for early registration is April 27.
