Register Now to Access 2007 PQRI Practice Data in July

By News Staff

CMS has issued a call to all physicians anxious to review their 2007 Physician Quality Reporting Initiative, or PQRI, quality measures data: Register now with CMS' security system so that access to the reports will be quick and easy when they become available in mid-July.

Business of Medicine
A 2007 PQRI Final Feedback Report will be available to any practice that had at least one eligible professional in the practice who reported 2007 PQRI quality measures data to CMS. Practices are identified by their taxpayer identification numbers.

Feedback in the report will include
  • information on reporting rates,
  • clinical performance,
  • incentives earned by individual professionals, and
  • summary information on reporting success and incentives earned.
According to CMS, it's important that practices take time now to set up their online accounts because security precautions that will allow access to medical practices' confidential information are not fully automated. This could mean a bottleneck in CMS' security system if it receives requests from a lot of registrants at the same time.

The new security system is known as the Individuals Authorized Access to CMS Computer Services-Provider Community, or IACS-PC.

Individual providers who will have sole access to their PQRI data should not register at this time; a simpler registration process will be announced for those individuals in the near future.

Read additional details about the registration process for IACS-PC in a recent issue of Medlearn Matters, (8-page PDF; About PDFs) an online CMS newsletter for Medicare providers.
