AAFP Members Can Score Discount to Attend Medical Home Conference
By News Staff
The AAFP is co-sponsoring the National Medical Home Summit, along with TransforMED and 16 other organizations, and the AAFP has arranged for Academy members to receive a discount on registration to attend the meeting, which will be held March 2-3 in Philadelphia. Members also can receive a discount if they register for a live online version of the event that will be archived and accessible via the Internet for six months.
According to the event's organizers, the hybrid on-site/online conference "offers a roadmap to medical home implementation." It will feature more than 30 authorities and practitioners in the medical home field, including AAFP President Ted Epperly, M.D., of Boise, Idaho.
Presenters will discuss the key building blocks of the medical home model, and case studies will demonstrate how the model is actually working now. Conference sessions include
- the medical home and health care reform,
- payment reform and incentive plans,
- an overview of CMS medical home demonstration projects,
- technology and the medical home,
- legal issues, and
- lessons from the field.
The conference will be preceded by a medical home boot camp on March 1. In addition, attendees can sign up for an in-depth medical home training program offered in conjunction with the conference. Attendees who successfully complete the training program's requirements will receive a certificate of completion.
AAFP members who register to attend the on-site conference in Philadelphia qualify for a flat rate of $795, a savings of $600 over the regular conference attendance rate. Members interested in accessing the online version of the conference will pay $195, a savings of $1,000.
In addition, The John A. Hartford Foundation has provided a limited number of full or partial tuition scholarships for practicing primary care physicians and students. The scholarships will not cover travel, hotel or other nontuition expenses.
Interested AAFP members can register for the on-site conference and the online conference at the summit Web site. Enter the optional registration code "AAFP" at the bottom of the online registration form to qualify for the discounted rate.
The AAFP discount cannot be used for a partial refund for AAFP members who have already registered for the conference. For more information, call (800) 684-4549, or e-mail the registration desk.
