Free Delta-Exchange Webinar
Tune in to PCMH Roundtable Discussion
By News Staff
Delta-Exchange membership is free to all AAFP members and includes monthly webinars on timely topics. Registration for the upcoming webinar titled "Stories from the Field -- An Interactive PCMH Roundtable" is now open. AAFP members new to Delta-Exchange first must sign up online to join the network (requires AAFP login); existing network members can log in to the network from the same Web page.
After logging in, go to the "Online Seminar" zone to register for the webinar.
During the webinar, participants will hear three primary care physicians discuss the successes they have achieved with PCMH implementation, as well as the challenges they have encountered along the way. Participants also will have an opportunity to ask the panel questions.
All three physician panelists have solid PCMH implementation experience.
Julie Wood, M.D., is associate director of the Research Family Medicine Residency Program in Kansas City, Mo. Wood serves as medical director of an outpatient clinic that employs 55 health care professionals and leads her practice's efforts in an ongoing BlueCross BlueShield PCMH pilot project in the Kansas City area.
Joining Wood on the panel is Tricia Hern, M.D., associate director of the Community Health Network Family Medicine Residency Program in Indianapolis. Hern also is medical director of the residency's Family Medicine Center, where she is deeply involved in PCMH implementation. In addition, she is engaged in restructuring the residency program curriculum to align with PCMH principles.
Rounding out the panel is Mindi Garner, D.O., whose internal medicine practice in Pittsburg, Kan., is one of eight primary care practices in the state participating in the Kansas Patient-Centered Medical Home Initiative pilot project. She also operates a satellite clinic in Girard, a small Kansas town with about 2,700 residents.
