Hurricane Relief Effort Resources

[Hurricane Relief]

The catastrophic flooding from Hurricane Harvey in Houston and surrounding areas has left thousands in dire need of shelter, supplies, and medical care. Please use the following resources to assist victims in any way you can.

Medical Volunteer Opportunities:

Health professionals are needed on the ground to provide medical care and services to those in need.

Blood Donation: Blood and platelet supplies are at critically low levels at hospitals in the Houston area. Find a blood drive near you through the American Red Cross(www.redcross.org).

Monetary Donation: The AAFP Foundation is collecting donations for disaster relief efforts on the ground in Texas(www.aafpfoundation.org). Additionally, the Foundation’s disaster assistance program(www.aafpfoundation.org) provides support to family physicians who have undergone uninsured losses to their medical practices and/or who need help to get their practices up and running again in a time of crisis.

Food Banks: Houston-area food banks have been inundated with overwhelming requests for life-sustaining food, water, and supplies. Learn how you can help with monetary or goods donations(www.houstonfoodbank.org).

Diaper Banks: Diapers, wipes, and baby and senior essentials are desperately needed. Find out how you can support the Texas Diaper Bank(www.texasdiaperbank.org)
