The AAFP and its Center for Health IT have partnered with Emdeon, the largest health care claims processing company in the nation, to explore ways in which administrative and clinical data can be leveraged to benefit AAFP members and the specialty of family medicine.
The mission of the CDR initiative is to provide participants with actionable data to improve the financial and clinical performance of their practices, demonstrate the key role of family physicians in an effective and efficient U.S. health care system and inform AAFP advocacy and educational efforts relative to transformation into such a system.
The 12-month pilot project will focus on up to a dozen family medicine practices with varied characteristics. Emphasis will be on analysis of data currently available to Emdeon, the AAFP and the value of reports and data visualizations delivered to participating practices. Emdeon will bring its data management and distribution resources to the partnership, while AAFP will bring clinical, health care operations, and health informatics expertise.
