Family Medicine Leads Emerging Leader Institute

Enhance your leadership skills and earn a $1,000 scholarship to attend National Conference through the Family Medicine Leads (FML) Emerging Leader Institute. The AAFP Foundation offers this year-long leadership program to help 30 outstanding family medicine residents and medical students with personal and professional development as well as networking.

Requirements: Must be a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Medical students must be in second, third, or fourth year of medical school when the program begins. Residents must be in first, second, or third year of residency when program begins. 

Three documents are required to complete the application process: the FML Emerging Leader Institute application, curriculum vitae (CV), and a letter of recommendation. Deadline for submission is March 1, 2018.

This program starts immediately following National Conference on Saturday, August 4 and Sunday morning, August 5. Independent project work continues through Spring 2019.

*Please note that all FML Emerging Leader Institute Scholarships include your attendance to National Conference.  There is a highly competitive selection process, so we encourage FML Emerging Leader Institute applicants to also apply for a FML Scholarship to attend National Conference. Your FML Scholarship application will be considered only if you are not selected for the FML Emerging Leader Institute.
