• Permission to Use

    The AAFP has contracted with the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) to provide a web-based permission service for American Family Physician (AFP), FPM, and FP Essentials.

    Journal Content

    You may request permission for AFP, FPM, and FP Essentials articles through the CCC website if you:

    • are with an academic institution and would like to use an article in print or electronic course materials
    • would like to deliver or distribute an article via interlibrary loan or commercial document delivery
    • would like to photocopy or share electronically an article (e.g., send in an email or post on an intranet or internet website) for general business or academic use

    Using AAFP Content for Work to be Published

    Email a request to include AAFP content in your work, such as: 

    • AAFP journal articles
    • Tables or graphs
    • algorithms
    • pictures

    AAFP content can be used with permission in:

    • single or multiple journal articles
    • books or textbooks
    • magazines and newspapers
    • brochures, pamphlets, and presentations

    Non-journal Content

    Email your request to use or republish other AAFP content, such as materials from familydoctor.org, a newsletter, a clinical guideline, or a blog.
