The AAFP supports the rights of patients to Full and equal visitation rights, consistent with a patient's wishes and supported by advance healthcare directives and visitation authorization forms that are no more restrictive than those of immediate family members.
Consideration should be taken if there is a suspicion of intimate partner violence or other forms of abuse.
