• Patient Care, Concurrent

As noted in Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), concurrent care is the provision of similar services (e.g., hospital visits) to the same patient by more than one physician or other qualified health care professional on the same day. In many instances, concurrent care is medically necessary and essential to the best care of the patient, including problem solving, coordination, management of services and/or emotional support. When concurrent care is medically necessary and essential to patient care, as documented by the physicians or other qualified health care professionals involved, it should be appropriately paid.
