The AAFP recognizes that physicians with gaps in educational and clinical skills are being identified by various means. To address these gaps, the AAFP believes that a prescriptive, remedial educational program based upon a comprehensive, individualized assessment is essential, as is documentation of achievement of competence at completion of the program.
