  • Physician's Right Relative to Imposed Administrative Costs

Physicians should be able to charge and receive payment for administrative requirements imposed by public or private payers, regulatory authorities, employers or other entities, unless such charges are prohibited by contract or regulation. This would include, but not be limited to, prior authorizations, prescription changes made solely for formulary compliance and completion of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) or other forms not directly related to patient care. The physician's practice should be transparent with both patients and entities imposing administrative requirements regarding the charges associated with completing such requirements.
