Program Description

The Family Medicine Residency Program at University of Chicago– Ingalls Memorial Hospital offers a unique training experience: the academic depth of one of the country's leading research institutions grounded in the daily reality of caring for a diverse, underserved community in Chicago’s Southland. Due to its central location in the Southland, Ingalls Memorial Hospital has a service area population of approximately 240,000; with 33% of patients having Medicaid coverage and 19% living below the federal poverty line (1.5x the state level). Ingalls Memorial Hospital's diverse patient population, supportive faculty, and comprehensive medical resources make it a pivotal site for resident education and development. Our program is sponsored by the University of Chicago Medical Center and ACGME-accredited as of February 2026. We look forward to welcoming our inaugural class in July 2027.
