Program Description
Guthrie offers a rare combination of a rural Family Medicine Residency supported by a tertiary care center; community centered training plus easy access to a full range of sub specialists. Residents and faculty practice in a hospital-based Family Medicine Center with a fully-integrated Electronic Medical Record that spans both inpatient and outpatient areas. The full spectrum of family medicine is emphasized throughout the 36 months including: OB care, inpatient care, procedures, sports medicine, psychosocial medicine, and practice management. Our small size allows greater resident support, both informally and through Balint training and resident support groups. Sayre is a small town with easy access to large cities, cultural events, sailing on the Finger Lakes, Auto Racing, hiking in Watkins Glen, Cornell Campus in Ithaca, biking, skiing and canoeing.
