Program Description
The Carolinas Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program has been training family physicians since 1973, with roots dating back to 1969, making it one of the nation's oldest family medicine residency programs. Our mission is to train service-minded Family Medicine leaders who provide exceptional care across the lifespan through excellence in education, research, and community engagement. Residents train within a unified curriculum across three tracks: Urban Track – Atrium Health Biddle Point Traditional Track – Atrium Health Elizabeth Family Medicine Community Apprenticeship Track – Atrium Health Union Family Practice Our residents gain hands-on experience caring for diverse patient populations in academic and community settings, with training in preventive care, chronic disease management, women's health, obstetrics, pediatrics, musculoskeletal medicine, and office-based procedures. Opportunities in clinical research, medical student education, and community engagement.
