Program Description
A residency program located in a beautiful small city in the Oregon Cascades dedicated to producing family doctors to enter rural and frontier practice after graduation. Over 80% of our graduates are practicing in towns of less than 10,000 inhabitants. This program offers unopposed full-spectrum rural residency training in a community hospital setting. It offers a strong emphasis on maternal child health, procedural medicine, wilderness medicine and transformed primary care. The program’s busy inpatient medicine service offers ample experience in both intensive care and hospital medicine. Residents may choose between tracks that emphasize Maternity care (c-sections), hospital medicine, trauma track, or ambulatory care. The residency location is ideal for outdoor activities with wilderness areas within 30 minutes of the program, great skiing, 3 downhill resorts within 1.5 hours, local single track mountain biking (in the city) and the Pacific Crest Trail 1/2 hour away.
