    Program Description

The University of Hawaii Family Medicine Residency Program aims to train high quality family physicians to meet the diverse needs of the multi-cultural communities in Hawaii and the Pacific Basin. Over 70% of our graduates practice in Hawaii, the US Affiliated Pacific Island jurisdictions or in CHCs/FQHCs. We emphasize culturally appropriate, cost-effective care and a wider community/public health approach to addressing health disparities, including homeless care. Department research focuses on cost-effective prescribing, homeless care, Pacific Island/Islander health and health disparities in cancer prevention and control.
