    Program Description

    The Family Medicine Residency of Idaho (FMRI) in Boise, Idaho is a dynamic program that teaches and thrives on the broad scope of Family Medicine. Continuously accredited since 1975, FMRI has trained 394 residents as of June 30, 2025 and is one of the first 11 Teaching Health Centers in the US that combines a FM residency program with a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Our mission is three-fold: produce excellent, broadly-trained family physicians; serve the citizens of Idaho, especially rural Idaho; and serve the underserved. To accomplish this we have an extremely broad curriculum and scope of practice with a focus on the PCMH. The FMRI offers excellent clinical training and superb patient volumes in all clinical areas.
