Program Description

We at the University of Tennessee-Saint Francis Family Medicine Residency Program are committed to providing our patients with compassionate, high quality, safe and cost-effective medical care. Our residents, fellows and students work and learn in a supportive academic environment. The program promotes the discovery and dissemination of knowledge important to Family Medicine education, patient care, leadership and self-care. We strive to promote excellence in patient care and residency education. We are university-affiliated, community- based, and unopposed. The educational environment fosters advancement and allows independence. We work to maintain a balance between personal and professional time. Our program was formed in 1975 to provide the full scope of Family Medicine training. Our Family Medicine Center is adjacent to the hospital and parking is free. We have several faculty members with C-section privileges. Our office provides procedures for our patients such as joint injections, derm procedures, ultrasound, LARC, and colposcopy. The FMC is a model practice. There are 24 patient rooms, a state-of-the-art procedure suite, a large waiting area, as well as faculty and resident offices. The clinic has on-site management and an electronic medical record system. Saint Francis Hospital is a large community hospital with a strong commitment to community service. It offers a complete range of services, including emergency care, cardiac and medical surgical, and obstetrical services. The hospital and medical staff have had a strong commitment to the residency program since its inception.
