Program Description

We are a young Family Medicine residency program offering innovative approaches to family medicine training in an extraordinary, supportive environment. We will provide you with the tools, skills, and experiences to be an outstanding family physician and leader. Our hospital is the premier community hospital in our region. Our state-of-the art Center for Family Medicine, in La Quinta, serves as the primary outpatient practice for the family medicine residents and faculty. We partner with Borrego Community Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center in Cathedral City, as our second Family Medicine Practice site. We are honored to offer training with our colleagues at the world-renowned Hazelden Betty Ford Center on the Eisenhower Medical Center campus. We offer community experiences in a free clinic, serving predominantly migrant farm workers, as well as comprehensive street medicine program for area residents who are homeless. Geriatrics is a particular strength of our program, and we provide nursing home care at Manor Care, a local skilled nursing facility. Exciting developments for the 2020-2021 academic year include being awarded Osteopathic Recognition by the ACGME, and re-opening Eisenhower’s labor and delivery unit so that obstetrics training can now take place locally. The Southern California desert is an exciting place to train, and we are proud to offer good work-life balance so you can enjoy your three years as part of our family.
