    Program Description

Welcome to the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix/Payson Family Medicine Residency! We are thrilled to have welcomed our first class of residents in June 2024. Nestled in the charming town of Payson, AZ, just 90 minutes northeast of Phoenix, our program offers a unique blend of rigorous training and a supportive community. With its population of 17,000, Payson provides a perfect setting for hands-on learning and meaningful patient interactions. Here’s what makes our program special: Intimate Training Environment: With only 2 residents per year, you’ll receive personalized attention and mentorship. Many of our rotations are 1:1 with attending physicians, ensuring you get the most out of your training. Full Spectrum Family Medicine: We aim to train family physicians who are adept at serving rural areas with limited resources. You’ll develop critical thinking skills and gain comprehensive experience in OB, emergency medicine, and geriatrics. Collaborative Learning: We engage in weekly didactics with our sister program in Phoenix, fostering a collaborative and enriching learning environment. Hands-On Experience: Our clinic is a rural health center where you’ll learn a full range of in-office procedures, preparing you for a wide variety of medical situations. Through our department @ UA COM-P -Faculty Development -Addiction Medicine -Sports Medicine -Maternal Child Health -Community Medicine Beautiful Location: Payson sits at 5,000 feet and is 20 degrees cooler than Phoenix. Surrounded by the largest stand of ponderosa pine, you’ll have ample opportunities for hiking, kayaking, and fishing in your downtime. Join us in Payson, where you’ll receive top-notch training while enjoying the beauty and tranquility of rural Arizona. We can’t wait to meet you! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need more information.
