    Program Description

We train physicians in full-spectrum family medicine to deliver evidence-based care and improve quality of life in rural communities. The program emphasizes team-based primary care, with residents working in interdisciplinary teams that include physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, nurses, social workers, behavioral health specialists, and care coordinators. This collaborative approach enhances patient outcomes and builds the communication and leadership skills needed for rural practice. The curriculum also prioritizes pediatrics, obstetrics, and geriatrics. Residents gain pediatric experience at Masonic Children’s Hospital (inpatient and ED), with additional outpatient exposure throughout training. As a regional obstetric hub handling 350–380 deliveries annually, the program provides extensive hands-on OB experience. Training further includes geriatrics, long-term care, and palliative care through rotations in nursing homes, senior living centers, and hospice.
