Evaluation of competence in the discipline of family medicine and other specialty disciplines, including periodic recertification, should continue to be under the purview of the individual specialty boards of that discipline. Medical licensure should continue to be the province of the state boards of medical examiners and not contingent on specialty certification or recertification status. (1974) (May 2023 BOD)
