    Skin Biopsy and Suturing Fundamentals
    Friday, October 22, 1:30-3:30 p.m.

    • Choose preferred suturing methods for wound closure.
    • Perform local anesthesia with minimal pain and maximum effectiveness for patients.
    • Evaluate options for skin biopsy, including shave punch, and excisional biopsies.
    • Compare appropriate biopsy selections for skin lesions depending upon the type of lesion and its expected depth.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in performing shave, punch, and excisional biopsies.

    Minimal Epidermoid (Sebaceous) Cyst Removal
    Friday, October 22, 3:45-5:45 p.m.

    • Analyze the pathogenesis of sebaceous and epidermoid cysts.
    • Compare the various excision techniques for removal of epidermal/sebaceous cysts
    • Demonstrate the ability to remove cysts using the standard excision with buried subcutaneous suture closure.

    Nail Procedures: Best Practices and Updates

    • Demonstrate common methods used for nail bed surgery and repair.
    • Illustrate the steps used to treat ingrown nails and nail abnormalities.
    • Prepare assessment and treatment plans for different patient populations who may require various nail procedures.

    Dermoscopy
    Saturday, October 23, 1:30-4:30 p.m.

    • Without proper training for the physician, diagnostic accuracy may be lower than through visual examination.
    • A two-step algorithm exists to aid in the decision making for biopsy or patient reassurance.
    • They should understand the recommendations for use, the variety of techniques and their indications for use, how to accurately implement the algorithm to the dermoscopic findings, and the advantages and limitations of dermoscopy.

    Soft Tissue Surgery - Advanced
    Saturday, October 23, 1:30-4:30 p.m.

    • Demonstrate proficiency in a variety of advanced suturing techniques.
    • Utilize different surgical materials, which may include appropriate wound closure materials or surgical instruments.
    • Compare routes of administration for anesthesia needs.
