    Upon completion of this session, learners will be able to:

    • Choose preferred suturing methods for wound closure.
    • Perform local anesthesia with minimal pain and maximum effectiveness for patients.
    • Evaluate options for skin biopsy, including shave punch, and excisional biopsies.
    • Compare appropriate biopsy selections for skin lesions depending upon the type of lesion and its expected depth.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in performing shave, punch, and excisional biopsies.

    • Demonstrate common methods used for nail bed surgery and repair.
    • Illustrate the steps used to treat ingrown nails and nail abnormalities.
    • Prepare assessment and treatment plans for different patient populations who may require various nail procedures.

    • Integrate the two-step algorithm with dermoscopic examination of skin lesions to determine the need for a biopsy.
    • Evaluate different skin lesions using dermoscopy to identify patterns of skin cancer.
    • Explain the application of the three types of dermoscopic techniques: 
      • classic or standard contact
      • polarized contact
      • polarized non-contact.
    • Utilize dermoscopy to differentiate benign nevi from melanoma.
