• Become an ALSO® Approved Instructor

As a maternity care provider, you are invited to pursue becoming an Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) Approved Instructor.

    Eligibility

Any clinician providing obstetrical care who has already obtained their ALSO Provider status is eligible to become an approved ALSO Approved Instructor. This includes physicians as well as residents, registered nurses, midwives, nurse practitioners, paramedics, and physician assistants.

How to become an ALSO Approved Instructor:

    • Successfully complete the ALSO Provider Course
    • Successfully complete the ALSO Instructor Course
    • Have an ALSO advisory faculty member evaluate your teaching of an ALSO Provider Course within one year of taking the instructor class
    • Submit the ALSO instructor candidate evaluation form for final approval

    ALSO Instructor Course

The ALSO Instructor Course equips current ALSO Providers with the skills and knowledge they need to effectively teach ALSO courses. Any learner in the ALSO Instructor Course without a working knowledge of the updated ALSO Provider Course curriculum must review the most recent version of the ALSO Provider Manual and familiarize themselves with the course’s educational format prior to participating.

ALSO Approved Instructor status is maintained by teaching in either two ALSO or BLSO courses within a three-year time period. Teaching in an ALSO Instructor Course does qualify the same as teaching in an ALSO Provider Course. The success of each ALSO Provider Course is directly related to the quality education and hands-on training offered to each participant in the instructor course.
