• Become an ALSO® Approved Instructor

As an ALSO Provider, you may pursue becoming an Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) Approved Instructor.

    Eligibility

Any clinician providing obstetrical care who has already obtained their ALSO Provider status is eligible to become an approved ALSO Approved Instructor. This includes physicians as well as residents, registered nurses, midwives, nurse practitioners, paramedics, and physician assistants.

How to become an ALSO Approved Instructor

Have an ALSO advisory faculty member evaluate your teaching of an ALSO or BLSO Provider Course within one year of taking the instructor course.

    ALSO Instructor Course

ALSO Approved Instructor status is maintained by meeting two requirements:
    1) teaching in two ALSO or BLSO courses and
    2) completing the current edition of the ALSO Online Instructor Renewal course, within each three-year status period.

If one or both of the requirements have not been met by the expiration date, the status will expire and the individual will need to begin the status cycle over by attending an ALSO Provider course.

Approved Instructors may view their wallet card with expiration date and track requirements in their AAFP Transcripts/Accounts.
