National AAFP Dues:
$125.00 annually (January 1 to December 31); dues are prorated by month for new applicants, November & December applicants pay prorated dues for the current year in addition to the following year’s dues.
Chapter Dues:

Eligibility
- Graduates of an allopathic or osteopathic medical school that is (a) accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or the American Osteopathic Association's Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (AOA COCA), or (b) listed as operational in the then-current edition of the World Directory of Medical Schools, who have not yet entered an ACGME- or AOA-approved residency.
- Eligibility for transitional membership will terminate on
December 31st of the second full calendar year following the year in which you graduated from an allopathic or osteopathic medical school or upon the member’s earlier enrollment in a residency program.
Privileges
- Transitional members have voice in reference committees, but are not entitled to hold an AAFP office.
General AAFP Transitional Membership Information
- Transitional applications are approved subject to AAFP Bylaws.
- National headquarters completes enrollment.
- Transfers from one classification to another must be approved by the constituent chapter where applicable.
- If all membership requirements are met, membership is continued on an annual basis, unless notification is received from the member.
About Chapter Membership
AAFP membership is unified, meaning that members are required to belong to the national Academy as well as to their appropriate chapter. The AAFP has a chapter for each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Uniformed Services, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. Members are also required to belong to a local chapter, if one exists in their area.
Chapter membership makes it convenient for AAFP members to access relevant information and focused resources right where they live and work. Chapters offer local and regional opportunities to network, mentor, volunteer, take a leadership role, and get involved in the AAFP.
