• Access Status Wallet Cards, Requirements, and Letters of Participation

    Access Your Wallet Card and Letters of Participation from your AAFP Account

    If you are an AAFP Member, log into your Transcript at https://aafp.org/mycme

    • View ‘CME Transcript’
    • Under your name, change year field to show ‘All Years’ if necessary – then select ‘Update’.
    • Letter of Participation for the ALSO Online course will be found next to the date it was completed.
      - The BLSO Online Pre-work has no Letter of Participation. After completion of the online assessment, a confirmation letter will appear for the learner to print or save.
    • Letter of Participation and Status Wallet Card for the ALSO and BLSO Live course will be found next to the date of the last Live course in which you attended or instructed.

    Under ‘View Letters of Participation’, you will see two headers:

    Under header ‘Completed AAFP-Sponsored CME’

    • Letter of Participation for the ALSO Online course will be found next to the date it was completed.
       Scroll down the page for the next header, where you will find your wallet card.

    Under header ‘Completed Non-AAFP-Sponsored CME

    • Letter of Participation for the ALSO and BLSO Live courses and Status Wallet Card will be found next to the date of the last course in which you attended as a Learner or served as faculty.

    Approved Instructor Status Self-Tracking Requirements from Your AAFP Account:

    1. Find wallet card with start and expiration date. Located under your last teaching entry (see above).
    2. Find at least *two ‘Teaching: ALSO Course’ entries between your start and expiration dates.
    3. Find Instructor Renewal Course Letter of Participation between your start and expiration dates.

    Your status will RENEW three more years on the expiration date printed on your wallet card, if requirments are met.

    Your status will EXPIRE if requirments are not met by your expiration date. Status Life Cycle begins again by attending an ALSO Course and ALSO Instructor Course to regain status.

    Covid Extension for all Statuses

    All original status expiration dates from 1/1/2020—5/30/2022 were extended to 6/30/2022 due to course cancellations during the pandemic.


    ALSO Approved Instructor Status Information

    Since June 2019, the Approved Instructor status period has been 3 years, with the requirement of teaching 2 times and completing each edition (every 3 yrs) of the Instructor Renewal Course during that period.

    *If an Approved Instructor received their status prior to June 2019, they may have a 5-year status period, with the requirement of teaching 3 times and completing each edition (every 3 yrs) of the Instructor Renewal Course during that period.

    Advisory Faculty Status
    The Advisory Faculty Status is fully dependent on the Approved Instructor status. 
    When the Approved Instructor status renews or expires, the Advisory Faculty status does the same.
